president of G.L.O.R.I.A.
avant-garde artist and composer. Graduated on the Faculty of Music arts, University of arts, Belgrade. As artist had many exhibitions and performances, organized and participated many cultural programs and events in Serbia, former Yugoslavia and international.

Some of the most important activities of this organization are related to the resumption of the artistic scene after the political changes in 2000.

G.L.O.R.I.A. has organized series of debate platforms and lectures on the beginnings of contemporary artistic scene in former Yugoslavia in Kragujevac, Nis, Novi Sad, Smederevo, Majdanpek. This series of lectures has been done in collaboration with atr link and local non-governmental organizations. The themes for these actions were “DEFENCE OF THE ARTISTIC THEORY” and “THE PROBLEM OF SOCIO-REALISM AND THE ATTEMPT OF DECONSTRUCTION OF MODERNISM AND WHAT HAPPEND AFTERWARDS”

G.L.O.R.I.A. has been engaged in the organization of a guest performance of the group “sixth colon” from The Netherlands and the tour of musical/performing groups from Belgium and The Netherlands.

Within the celebration of the jubilee of Nikola Tesla, G.L.O.R.I.A. has realized a project “Music Hologram – Nikola Tesla” in collaboration with Art centre Guarnerius and the Museum of Nikola Tesla, Belgrade.

For the last three years G.L.O.R.I.A. has been working on organization of an international festival safe and sound which has been realized in December 2006, in Belgrade, in collaboration with the organization art&science and had around 20 participants.

At the same time G.L.O.R.I.A. is working on archive material which is being published in the magazine art fama (since 2006) and art filter (which is being prepared for publishing in the end of the current year).

With a concentrated effort of the editorial stuff and establishment of a collaborative network, G.L.O.R.I.A. achieved what had seamed impossible on local artistic scene:

  • to unite all the factors of contemporary artistic scene
  • to create an informational system inside fragmented and lonesome diversities in art
  • to fight for a realistic image of the scene
  • to develop a real demand for a contemporary art market

These significant achievements have been reached, on the first place, by setting an adequate strategy on the bases of a good knowledge about the scene and use of tactical fine points in the presentation of the scene, on one hand and promotion of the magazine, on the other. The dynamics of issues in monthly rhythm, editorial concept and significant effort put in distribution and regular promotion of the magazine in big centres as well as in peripheral, local communities, has resulted in a good reputation of the art fama magazine and the organization G.L.O.R.I.A., which opens the way for realization of more complex projects.

Opening of the exhibition COURTYARD and presentation of the publication “Courtyard”

Author of the exhibition: Marija Đorgovic

The exhibition “Courtyard” is a part of the project by the same name, initiated with the intention to map and present artistic production of a group of artists from the younger generation, living and working in Belgrade after 2000. The project was started by Ivan Petrovic, Vukašin Nedeljkovic, Nenad Jeremic, Oliver Veljkovic, Dušan Jevtovic, Vladan Jeremic and Selena Savic.
Although they never formally declared themselves as a group, they have, since 2000, collaborated on many joint projects and actions, often acting outside of the institutional frameworks. Happenings and events in private houses, courtyards around residential buildings, ad hoc exhibitions, theatre play productions and publication of works on the Internet are some of many activities carried out by the authors in the years past.
At the exhibition “Courtyard” paintings, drawings, photos, assemblages, installations and performances will be presented together with documents and artefacts from certain events, with the intention to visually illustrate and cast some light on artistic strategies, behaviour and attitudes of a part of artistic scene in Belgrade after 2000.

At the opening,

at 20.30h, Dušan Jevtovic and Nenad Jeremic will re-perform the performance WESTERN IMPRESSIONS.

Presentation of the publication “Courtyard”

video lounge and discussion on the publication
participating: Slavko Timotijevic, Marija Đorgovic, Vladan Jeremic
moderator: Ksenija Marinkovic

The publication “Courtyard” is a result of the projects ARCHIVE OF EVENTS 2000-2006 (http://arhiv.modukit.com) and FRAME7, representing a retrospective of the production of a group of artists from the younger generation in Belgrade after 2000.

During the past years, artists have been involved together in numerous activities, different artistic projects and actions, often staying outside of institutional bounds. They have organized events in private houses and courtyards around residential buildings, published their works on Internet and organized video projections in local bars and exhibitions in squatted houses.

Individual collaborations of artists with art theoreticians and young curators have resulted in theoretical texts about their individual and collective works. The decision to pour this material into a book which includes a critical reflection on the artistic practice, its political and social aspects and presence on the local scene, is an important step in the valorization of this production.

Artists that are presented in this book come from different backgrounds – applied art, photography, mathematics, architecture; they work in diverse media using almost all forms of contemporary artistic expression. They form a group that has no defined limits or criteria of belonging. The whole of the group is built on mutual relations, on the fact that they have been in a close and intensive contact during the period of the presented individual and collective artistic activity.

Project FRAME7 and the book "COURTYARD"

courtyard .pdf

The project FRAME7 is initiated with the intention to map one period with artistic activity of a part of young scene in Belgrade, and bears a great responsibility to present this production as its important segment. The book "7a" is created as a result of this project, representing a specific retrospective on artistic practices of young artists who were living and working in Belgrade, during the period after 2000.

During the past seven years, the artists have participated together in a large number of activities, diverse artistic projects and actions. The texts about their work were developed through individual collaboration with the art theorists. The decision to put this material together into a book, which will include a critical review on the artistic practice, on its political and social aspects and on the public presence in local media, is a very important step in the evaluation of the achievements of this group, up to now, and their influence on the artistic practice of today.

Artists that are presented in this project form a group that has no defined limits or criteria of belonging. The whole of the group is built on mutual relations, on the fact that the artists have been in a close and intensive contact during the presented period of individual and group artistic production. A significant part of this production can be found on the archive of events
